The wind and waves arrived as promised today. Shorebreak present but not too bad so about 50% of my launch attempts were munchings, but about 50% I made it out. Wind was really up and down, between nothing and mental gusts. Was lighter overall at the start so went out on Martin's FSW and James 5.7 Soul. Ooohh that sail is horrible - so back-handed when overpowered, which I was as the wind got stronger. So changed down to my wave kit. Had a reasonable session, on my own kit which was good. Some good runs and rides, but wind still up and down. Tide came right up later on in the afternoon which messed up the waves. Didn't want to look a gift-horse in the mouth - it was windy - so did go out again for a bit at high tide, but it wasn't much fun since no waves, still gusty, and now really choppy out back as well.
